There are mainly two reasons that pushed us to create Puzzle Art.
Puzzle Arte was born from an intuition with distant roots, inspired by the history of Springbok Editions, the American company that in the 1960s transformed the puzzle into a bridge to art.
Co-founder Katie Lewin, with vision and courage, was among the first to offer puzzles dedicated to great artistic masterpieces. Among these was Jackson Pollock’s famous “Convergence,” then called “the most difficult puzzle in the world,” which sold over 100,000 copies in its first year.
The real shock for us came when we discovered that, thanks to that puzzle, thousands of people had then decided to visit the original work exhibited at the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo.
This simple yet powerful connection between play and artistic experience ignited in us the desire to do the same: to approach art through puzzles, transforming each piece into an opportunity for discovery and wonder.
Today, with Puzzle Arte, we want to breathe new life into this intuition, making art something accessible, something to touch, experience, and reassemble with your own hands—an experience that enriches not only the mind, but also the emotions of those who experience it.

But there’s also a deeply Italian story behind Puzzle Arte, one that deeply ties us to our region.
In the summer of 2019, we had the opportunity to meet Impronte Edizioni, a Romagna-based company that had chosen to dedicate its puzzle production to works of art, bringing to life less obvious but extraordinarily beautiful masterpieces.
From Mirò to Chagall, from Bosch to Botticelli, Impronte Edizioni’s puzzles offered enthusiasts original, high-quality images, far from the usual commercial subjects.
After the company closed in 2009, we decided to continue its legacy and re-release these unique puzzles, which are now rare and sought-after pieces, destined never to be reprinted again.
But Puzzle Arte doesn’t stop there . Over time, we’ve carefully selected other brands and collections , offering high-quality puzzles that reflect our philosophy: artistic images, excellent materials, and a true gaming experience.
Today Puzzle Arte takes a further step : the first Sherwood Store branded puzzles are born, with subjects chosen and curated directly by us.
